Gulf Supply is the largest supplier of safety and janitorial products in the area, selling in bulk and single items. Gulf Supply Co., Inc. was started in 1994 by Melvin Hyer. He had previously owned Industrial Safety Products since 1976, but he decided to sell out of that company and get a fresh start with a completely family owned company.

Over the years, due to the demand of customers, Gulf Supply expanded and three new companies were created: Drugnostics Biomedical, PPE Rentals Inc., and Gulf Coast Training and Testing. The group of companies are now referred to as The Gulf Companies. Together, they are a full service organization that serves the construction and industrial industry.
