Cheryl(Sherry) McAlpin
Sherry McAlpin founded Transportation Resources, Inc. in 1998 after spending nearly 18 years in the transportation industry. As a young girl she spent her summers traveling with her father Charles McAlpin, across the country, in Mack’s, Kenworth’s, and Peterbilt’s. After high school she joined the family business, McAlpin Transportation in Decatur, AL, which consisted of over 150 owner operators and company trucks.
Sherry spent six years hiring drivers, preparing fuel tax reports, and writing state permits for her father’s company. In 1985 when the family sold the business, she moved into the LTL (less than truckload) world in a sales position with CW Transport and then Overnite Transportation.
In 1989, Sherry entered the world of airfreight with Emery Worldwide, (then owned by Consolidated Freightways). It was a wonderful learning experience involving import and export, as well as intermodal and ocean freight. She remained with Emery for nine years, excelling in sales and winning numerous awards for outstanding achievements.
Sherry’s passion, knowledge, and experience in the transportation industry, created the desire to help others with their transportation needs and is why TRI exists today. She now resides in Memphis, Tennessee, which she calls home. “Memphis has tremendous opportunities in the freight forwarding and intermodal business due to the countless distribution centers in the area. TRI is proud to be part of this growing transportation environment.”
